Is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the senior position of

Lands Surveyor / Property & Infrastructure Manager

Job Purpose

Responsible for providing a range of professional duties relating to ensure the effective management and use of SVCC’s lands and property in accordance with SVCC’s guidelines and practices.

General Description/ Scope

Liaising with Farm Managers, the Senior Farm Manager and ultimately the Managing Director, the Lands Surveyor / Property Manager will:

  • Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain property boundary information

  • Conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries for properties from legal documents and on the ground, liaising with neighbouring owners where necessary, write descriptions of property boundaries for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents

  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain

  • Analyse and prepare reports on suitability and growing conditions in relation to the terrain, soil type, wind conditions and rainfall

  • Land use planning and zoning  using via a land-mapping computer program to recommend areas to be planted, location of any buildings, routes of internal roads and infrastructure generally

  • Monitor and manage the infrastructure of our lands in terms of buildings, fences, roads, services  etc to ensure smooth and effective farming operations

  • Manage our infrastructure projects, liaising with architects and Government authorities such as planning to obtain the necessary consent and ensure best practice

Qualifications

  • Professional qualifications

  • At least six years’ professional experience involving surveying and lands / property management

  • Driving licence

Competencies

  • Knowledge of surveying and lands / property management

  • Computer Literate with working knowledge of land-mapping programs such as ArcGIS

  • Competent draughtsman

  • Knowledge of agriculture and farming an advantage

  • Knowledge of building and construction practices an advantage
